"Inner Peace"
the serenity spoke to me
the silence was louder than any word
i've ever heard
the peace was overwhelming
i twitched when it was broken
my head kept speaking to me
you're thinking! it would say
then all was silent
my mind had quieted itself
suddenly it was like i had
woken up
i was one with time
truly in the moment
"orange"
the raised edges, like little hills
the skin is ripped, revealing a
sweet, dewy scent
a slippery feel floods your fingers
a splash of citrus hits your face
the vibrant color shocks the eyes
it is beautiful
"wall"
it is a wall, not your wall, not my wall, but our wall
it is true love, meeting at a place where pay is not the issue
a collection of letters and symbols and pictures
a collection that means something
expression of a thought
the colors are vibrant, beautiful
it is a tribute to the basic human right of
freedom of speech, freedom of expression
it is a truth that can not be taken away
it can be removed, but never taken away
"dream lights"
a hunk of wax, a shpaed piece of tin
so much energy in these
a secret shared, put to the universe
suddenly, the wax is as stunning as the stars
"war"
my life is one lived day to day
it's always a different way
that i can survive
i thank God that i'm alive.
my family lives on the rations they give
they're barely enough to live
the restrictions you put on our country
have starved me.
every single one of you is blind
as you sit back and sip your wine
i starve.
it seems like we're so far away from you
for you every day starts anew.
but for me, it's lucky i woke up with my heart beating
as your leaders are meeting,
i'm sitting here wondering if tomorrow will bring
the horrible deafening ring
of a thousand bullets come to end my life
of a hundred bombs came to add to my strife.
will tomorrow i wake up with a tank in my yard?
for you i know that it's hard
to imagine a life that's like mine.
to have to wait for your food and drink in a
line.
to be attacked without even a sign.
to have nothing to call "mine."
i know that you might not care,
you don't have to worry about impending warfare.
so as you live freely, remember me
and just maybe you will start to see,
that you think we're so very different from you,
but if you think about it that ain't really true.
we're all in this thing together,
no matter race, creed, or whether
we make a thousand or a million a year,
you have to know that i'm living in fear.
so when you wake up alive think of me,
and maybe you'll begin to see,
the hardship and poverty i'm in,
because when you go to war nobody wins
"untitled" hehe many are untitled
we lie in a place where
propaganda
is fed and greedily swallowed.
a place where
fox news
can put a
WAR
to music and
it's taken in with a grain of salt.
a society where we are given
mixed messages
"McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King!"
one voice shouts,
while the other unflinchingly
yells at us to lose
that "extra weight" and
have concrete abs,
thighs of steel.
a place where,
despite the common knowledge that the North Pole is
a
POOL, we
drive cars that take
gas and expel a
DEADLY smoke.
and no one cares.
"night, or something like it"
2:30 and the beautiful bright lights
of Times Square are
still shining!
with all the broadway grandeur they can muster,
they blink like beacons in the
would be dark of New York City.
Ever changing,
the billboards radiate
vibrancy
as the digital images cross their screen.
but, even the lights shine a little
less bright
as it gets very early
or very late,
depending on how you look at it.
and as i drift off
into sleep in
the City That Never Sleeps,
i am at peace, in a
weird, quirky way that only
the great New York
can provide.
"Day"
sweat pours from the pores
of NYC
and as you ask yourself,
"how can a city sweat?"
you look around, and you can tell.
walking down a New York sidewalk
is an experience as
individual
as the people who live here.
you stop yourself paces before
stepping into an
oncoming taxi.
those taxis are
something hard to comprehend.
it seems they have no
care about the
pedestrians as they attmept to turn on a walk sign
and,
in vain,
honk.
it is
humanity
in the raw
beautiful in its own right.
"Semi-Dark Neon Glow"
some say
Las Vegas is the
crown champion of
neon and bright lights.
i would tend to disagree,
and give Times Square that crown.
day may be hot, sweaty, raw
but what comes next is
another matter entirely
what some would call a coming of night,
i would call a semi-dark neon glow.
this glow emanates
class, finesse, style
instead of sweat and
unfiltered human energy
the glow is an
amazing thing
the city cools,
becomes more
bearable to the weak stomached,
more mysterious and exciting.
the glow is how i
see New York:
full of beauty, mystery, intigue,
and life.
("hiding" this was written off of a picture which
i cant find on google which is where i got it... sorry!!)
"hiding"
between smoke stacks and sky scrapers
a bridge joins two worlds
an unshaved sky
lounges over the sea
the sun a goatee
lost in it all is a
boat, hiding from
the world.
